It’s been a Cool, Cool Summer! Thanks to everyone…to our patrons, the holidaymakers and the locals; to our hard working team; and particularly to Coca Cola and the Overstrand Municipality for making the Summer Lounge such a roaring success! You can see just how much fun everyone had in these Instagram pics! Fun, fun, cocktails, sushi, bubbly, sunshine, friends and more fun! A really cool Summer! Sadly it is now over and the Summer Lounge is closed. The good news is…as it was such a success it we’re looking forward to doing it again next Summer. Yes, there is a nip in the air here in Hermanus, and the days are getting noticeably shorter. Autumn is on its way – an excellent time of year to explore the natural beauty of Hermanus as it isn’t too hot. Enjoy Fernkloof; the Cliff Path, Piet se Bos (just behind us); the lagoon and Grotto Beach; and join us for a hearty meal, revitalising cappuccino or a rewarding sundowner. Looking forward to seeing you while the days are still not too short....

Another day in Paradise!

Another day in Paradise! Well it seems that we, and our patrons, have enjoyed a month filled with Love! We’ve been loving the balmy days on our favourite beach; the delicious specials Chef Jana has been creating; the laughter of happy children; and the ‘joie vivre‘ of customers enjoying cocktails in the Summer Lounge or a romantic dinner on the terrace. The response to our appeal for you to “share the love” was amazing. Thank you! So many people took time to stop by the Facebook pages and make contact with the organisations featured in the #LoveInAbundance Tweetup. And…as for your love of Jazz…you sure do love it…we’re all booked up for tomorrow night! If you didn’t book in time – please book now for next month to avoid disappointment. Lighting up the Overstrand The Lighthouse to Lighthouse ladies are an amazing group of women who raise funds for local charities each year by walking from Lighthouse to Lighthouse. Their goal this year is to collect R400 000 for the Clive Prins Drug intervention Programme in the Overstrand area. Join us on Sunday the 13th of March to welcome them at the end of their 3 day journey. Picture perfect paradise One of our patrons, talented photographer Jenny Powis, took these spectacular pictures at Grotto Beach before dinner at Dutchies. Take a look at her Facebook page to see more beautiful pics of the area. Wishing you many more days filled with love here in...

Share the Love It’s the month of LOVE and we hope we’ll be seeing many of you for a romantic lunch or dinner at Dutchies on Valentine’s Day. We have a delectable menu and some lovely Surprises for you! We were thrilled to participate in an innovative Tweetup this week, #LoveinAbundance, organised by the Grootbos Foundation. How wonderful to see so many people in the Overberg showing so much love for the environment, their communities and those less fortunate than them. We urge you to share the love this February. Take a look at some of the organisations and projects in our area and contribute to those that are close to your heart. The organisation we are very involved with, the Overstrand Association for People with Disabilities (OAPD), does a phenomenal amount for the disabled and it brings us much joy to help them do so.   #LoveinAbundance...

Yes! It has been a wonderful summer down at Grotto Beach in Hermanus. You just have to take a look at the stream of Instagram photo’s posted by patrons to see the good times, reunions, romances and celebrations that were enjoyed and the memories made. The Summer Lounge with its cocktail and sushi bar has been a great hit…and for those locals who hibernate whilst the visitors are here…come and try it out – Summer isn’t over yet! Although our food and service has been showered with praise we have had one or two negative reviews. This is to be expected, particularly over season, but we would like to urge you, should you be unhappy with anything whatsoever, to call for management immediately so that we can ensure that your Dutchies experience is all you expect it to be. We’re delighted to have the SNLjazz trio playing for us this coming Friday 29th January. Maestro Simon Annett is on drums; Luke Townsend on saxophones (yes – he plays tenor, alto AND soprano!) and the gifted Congolese pianist, Nelson Malela, who adds a magical touch to whatever genre he is playing. These versatile and extremely talented musicians have performed with musical greats the world over and are not to be missed!! Please remember to book to avoid...
