Special Menu Tasting
At the beginning of April, we had a special menu tasting for guest houses in Hermanus. This special evening was two-fold, firstly to launch our new Tapas and Vegetarian Menu created by Chef Sharon but also to thank the guest houses for the wonderful season!
Do you have a vegetarian menu?
In recent months, we have had an increase in request for vegetarian options on our menu. We had the standard few items available but we decided that it was time to place more focus on providing our guests with a selection of dishes to choose from.
The special tasting was a wonderful start to our vegetarian menu and we are excited to announce that we have officially launched it for all to taste!
Let us know what you think of our new menu!

Dutchies is located approximately 10kms outside of Hermanus opposite the popular Grotto beach! It is quick and easy to get into your car or hire a Tuk Tuk and drive down to the restaurant.
The journey between the restaurant and Hermanus is incredibly beautiful, many times the quick hop into the car will hinder the possibilities of indulging in the beauty. We have compiled three different ways to get to Dutchies while enjoying the stunning scenery of Hermanus.
Take the cliff path from town centre, it will take you approximately a hour to Dutchies. With its extraordinary diversity of scenery, rocky coves, sandy beaches and secluded forest glades, the Cliff Path is unequalled anywhere. It is a definite ‘must-do’ when in Hermanus. The cliff path will lead you directly to Dutchies. For more information read here.
If you don’t feel like walking but want the wind in your hair, opt to hire a bicycle. Gobike Hermanus has a range of bicycles you can hire, from the more classic, to electric and even a bike to ride on the beach known as a fat bike!

In February we had the honor of hosting a very special event with The Global Challenge at our restaurant. Monique Kalkman, an amazing paraplegic sports woman, was asked to help raise funds for OAPD by sharing her story at Dutchies amongst friends, locals and professional female golf players from around the world. Monique, after being diagnosed with cancer became paralyzed from the waist down. Monique revisited her dreams and became the only Paralympic champion, in two sports namely, wheelchair tennis and table tennis. She became the first and only female athlete in two different individual sports winning golden Paralympic medals. Her inspirational story she shared with us has left footprints in our hearts!
During her time in Hermanus, Monique was invited to host a tennis and table tennis workshop for the disabled in Hawston with the clients of OAPD. It left them with a refreshing look at overcoming obstacles and pursuing their dreams!
Thank you to Monique and Tania from the The Global Challenge for allowing Dutchies to be apart of this special initiative and event!
